2018 ShanghaiTech Workshop on Emerging Devices, Circuits and Systems (SWEDCS’2018)


SWEDCS'2018 is a forum to gather world-class experts in emerging devices, circuits and systems. It is organized and sponsored by the School of Information Science and Technology (SIST) at ShanghaiTech University. ShanghaiTech university is jointly founded by Shanghai Municipal Government and Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) in 2013, and aims to be a top world-class academic research institution.

This year, the workshop focuses on the “Internet of Things” (IoT). In IoT, A network of internet-connected objects are able to exchange and compute data collected through embedded sensors. Data-driven and artificial intelligence enabled IoT is dramatically changing our way of living and creating both opportunities and challenges for modern sensors, power solutions, imaging, computing devices and systems. This workshop gathers the most renowned researchers in the world to exchange the recent development in Internet of Things from different perspectives:

  • Optical imaging and related applications, including biomedical optics, photonic diagnostics, photoacoustic imaging as well as microwave imaging.
  • Semiconductor optoelectronic devices, including lasers, photodiodes, waveguides, and other active or passive devices;
  • All aspects of power conversion technologies from power devices, power electronic circuits, to power system. In particular, with an emphases on the wireless power transfer (WPT) solutions for future IoT devices, electric vehicles, etc.
  • Architectures, design methodologies and tools for ultra-low power and intelligent computing, hardware security and so on in IoT.

We also welcome other related topics that are not in the list above.

The audience will mostly be young faculty members, post-doctoral researchers, graduate students, and final year undergraduate students in related fields from China and the Asian Pacific region.
